Jovana Jaksic talks about herself with Tennis Circus

Here’s the nice interview that Jovana Jaksic, Serbian tennis player who was born in Belgrade twenty-two years ago, had with us. Jovana Jaksic, currently Wta number 185, reached her best ranking in May 2014 obtaining the 102nd place.

Interviewer: Hi Jovana. Who was your tennis idol when you were younger?
Jovana: Lindsay Davenport.

I: Do you have an adjective, just one, to decribe yourself?
J: Passionate.

I: What is your favourite tournament you have played so far?
J: I have to say Monterrey because I had so much success there. I have a special connection with that tournament and hopefully I can play there for many years to come. I also love all the Grand Slams, but especially the Australian Open.

I: As you have already said, you reached your first Wta final in Monterrey two years ago losing the last match against Ana Ivanovic. How disappointing is to lose a final?
J: Of course it was disappointing to lose the final, but I had a dream week thereand I would never look at it negatively. I played some amazing tennis, won some great battles and reached my first WTA final. It was an honour to play against another Serbian in the final and Ana is a great player and person who I look up to a lot.

I: You speak several languages, didn’t you?
J: French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, English and Serbian.

I: Even Italian?
J: Yes.

I: When did you learn it and how?
J: I have a very good friend from Italy so she was teaching me but I also got to learn quite a lot just from listening to the other people speaking. (laugh)

I: On the subject of Italy, you never took part to the Internazionali d’Italia of Rome till now. Do you hope, like we do, this year can be the good one?
J: Yes, I would absolutely love to take part in Rome. I was there actually! When I was a junior, I was signing a contract with an Italian team so I got to spend some time on site and watch some matches! It was beautiful I loved it there!

I: I know you love to read books. What kind do you like best?
J: I love all different kind of books, I like reading first of all! But I most enjoy reading books with some mystery and crime! I’m really into that!

I: Your favourite writer and book?
J: I love Nora Roberts but I also read a lot of John Grisham and Robert Ludlum.

I: Thanks Jovana and good luck for your future. Ciao!
J: Ci vediamo presto! (‘See you soon’ in Italian)
